【INNER】Priority
A bluish-green ripples as the background and the neon pink word “priority” indicates the ‘inner discovery’ of this week.
After completing the first lesson of "Creative Arts in Counselling," I became aware of how long it had been since I had engaged in "physical movement" and "drawing" as an outlet of self-expression. My inhibitions were brought to my attention by the classroom activities centring on "opening up" and "using drawing and colouring to express inner thoughts and emotions."
"Physical movement" and "drawing and colouring" are like keys to one's inner world; they direct attention to areas that are typically ignored before raising awareness and expressing it through visual arts (drawing and colouring) and movement (sensation). This is a very helpful approach for clients who are unsure of how to open up during their first counselling session or who do not yet have a mature vocabulary (e.g., children). It also serves as an approachable manner to interact with people who speak languages other than ours. It's wonderful that diverse people can always come together through creativity and the arts.
